My Morning Prayer: The Promises of Prayer 1

My Morning Prayer: The Promises of Prayer 1
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Promises- God is not a man that He should tell or act a lie, neither the son of man, that He should feel repentance or compunction [for what He has promised]. Has He said and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken and shall He not make it good? (Numbers 23:19 AMP).

God has spoken the promises, not people or religious leaders. Only He who made the promise can make it good.

Consider Matthew 6:5-13 (NLT):

“When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! Pray like this:
Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one…”

My Morning Prayer
-Marina Bromley

Father, thank you so much for the encouragement and example that you have given us in Jesus’s prayer. Thank you for teaching us how to pray, and how not to pray. I confess that often times my prayers are like wish lists of things I want to happen in my life, yet you instruct me to seek your will over all of my wants. Change my heart to come into rhythm with yours—I want to reflect your character in all that I do…even in my prayers. In Jesus’s name, amen.
