Continually and Continuously

Continually and Continuously
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

We can daily be thankful that we do not have a part-time God to put our trust in. How frustrating it would be if He was not available at the exact time we needed to call upon Him.

In our town there is a wonderful gift shop. There is also a restaurant with delicious food. The problem is that each business is only opened part time.

I have found these stores are often closed on the days I would like to go there to shop or eat.

You can be fully assured…

Jesus is a full-time Savior.
The Holy Spirit is a full-time Helper.
God is a full-time Father.

That is why David could say of the Lord in Psalm 71:3, “Be my strong refuge, to which I may resort continually.”

The reason we can continually find God’s strength and shelter is because God is continuously there, an “ever-present help in trouble.”

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1 NLT).

My Morning Prayer: Heartfelt Responses Concerning God’s Will

My Morning Prayer: Heartfelt Responses Concerning God’s Will
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

If God isn’t leading you to a certain place, why go there?
Lord, I am following You. I will not run around in circles trying to find my own way. I place my feet in Your footsteps.

If God hasn’t asked you to do a certain task, why perform it?
Lord, I will only carry what You ask me to lift. I lay down my agenda and my ideas.

If God hasn’t directed you to speak a certain word, why declare it?
Lord, put Your words in my mouth. I want to speak words that are fitting for the moment—the right word, the true word, the word from Your heart to others.

May the name of our Lord Jesus Christ be glorified and become more glorious through and in you (2 Thessalonians 1:12 AMPC).

Timely Tidbits of Truth 26

Timely Tidbits of Truth 26
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Jesus came at the perfect moment in history, for with God, timing is much more important than time. In your life He makes no mistakes, and what He has promised you will be done in His perfect time.

But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law (Galatians 4:4).

My times are in Thy hand (Psalm 31:15).

The Word of God

The Word of God
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

The Word of God
The living Word.
Truth. Light.
Holy. Pure.
Bread. Seed.
Comfort. Hope.
Strength. Guidance.
Quick. Powerful. Sharp.
The sword of the Spirit.

No weapon can dull its blade.
No enemy can bring it down.
No ruler can cancel its authority.
No argument can undermine its truth.
No critic can lessen its authenticity.
No denier can weaken its foundation.
No mocker can remove its penetrating insight.
No philosophy can replace its transforming light.

The rebellious fight it,
The stubborn refuse it,
The disobedient deny it,
The indifferent ignore it,
The lazy neglect it,
The foolish despise it,
The traitor renounces it,
The deceiver wrongly represents it.

The hungry eat it,
The obedient follow it,
The weary rest in it,
The humble surrender to it,
The devout embrace it,
The downcasts are uplifted by it,
The sick are revived by it,
The wise build their lives upon it.

How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth! I have restrained my feet from every evil way,That I may keep Your word. Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
(Psalm 119:103, Psalm 119:101, Psalm 119:105 AMP)

Important Questions Concerning God’s Will
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

If God isn’t leading you to a certain place, why go there?
If God hasn’t asked you to do a certain task, why perform it?
If God hasn’t directed you to speak a certain word, why de
clare it?
If God wouldn’t be pleased with a certain choice, why choose it?

Who are those who fear the Lord? He will show them the path they should choose (Psalm 25:12 NLT).

My Morning Prayer
-Marina Bromley

Good morning, Lord. Thank You for leading and guiding me in every step of my life. Help me to be discerning and patient as You lay out the next chapters. I want to make good decisions that are pleasing to You and edifying to the body of Christ. I don't want to take on things that You have not equipped me to do, or go places You don't want me to go. I only want to speak Your truth to a lost and hurting world. Help me to know Your perfect and peaceable will for my life, to bring You glory and grow Your kingdom. I pray that as You grow me, You will use me. May Your will be done. In Jesus' name, amen.

Timely Tidbits of Truth 25
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Jesus Christ is God’s perfect gift, given in God’s perfect time, in God’s perfect way, to perfectly meet the needs of every seeking heart.

Thanks be unto God for His indescribable gift (2 Corinthians 9:15).

My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).

Have Joy

Have Joy
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

“Have a good time” and “have fun” are common sayings we use with one another. It’s not a bad thing to say to someone, but it does have its limitations.

I would like to see a different saying become more common among God’s people. How about if we replace “have fun” with “have joy.” Joy is one of the greatest things we can possess on earth and differs greatly from fun.

“Fun” is fine, but we can’t always have fun. Fun depends so much on where we are in a given moment and what we are doing. It’s not fun to be caught in a traffic jam, to have a financial setback, to go through a difficult trial, to be without heat in the winter, or to have a mechanical breakdown when you are trying to meet a deadline.

It’s fun to go skiing, but it’s not fun to break your leg; it’s fun to watch a baseball game, but it’s not fun to watch your team lose; it’s fun to eat at a nice restaurant, but it’s not fun to get food poisoning; it’s fun to hook a big trout, but it’s not fun to have it get away.

Joy is a grace gift from God, not the result of a particular circumstance that happens in our lives.

Joy touches our spirits—fun touches our emotions. Joy abides—fun comes and goes. Joy flows like deep waters—fun skips along like a rock upon the water’s surface.

Joy is amazing and strength giving. Joy isn’t just for the good times, but for the hard times as well. Jesus knew joy even while going through the agony and suffering of the cross. The joy that Jesus knew is the joy we need to know as we face every circumstance of life—hard or easy, bad or good, pleasant or difficult—and it is His joy that He gives to us.

The Lord has blessed by wife with the gift and ministry of hospitality. Early on, the Lord taught her an important lesson about this ministry. She was once served a meal of tortillas and eggs by a Christian woman who lived in an adobe house with dirt floors, in the back country of Mexico. To this day, my wife has never been served more graciously. Her hostess had so little to offer materially and yet she radiated joy in everything she did.

It would be fun if my wife had a super gourmet kitchen to work in and the latest fine china to put at each place setting, but that has nothing to do with her ministry or her joy. Her joy comes from the Lord, not our kitchen or our dishes. At the end of the evening it may not be fun to face a stack of dirty dishes, but for my wife, the time at the sink is a time of joy. It has become something she looks forward to; it is here that she celebrates her calling, reflects upon the evening, and recalls the ministry of the Lord to those who were in our home.

Whatever your day might be, “Have joy”; whatever your circumstances, “Have joy”; whatever you need, “Have joy.” Have God’s joy. Have it in abundance. Have it in its fullness. Be filled with joy. Have the joy of His presence, and the joy of His salvation. May His joy greet at the start of each step of obedience, meet you at the end of every tear, cover you in every trial, and sustain you in every labor of love. May His joy remain.

“Have joy!”

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy… (Romans 15:13).

My Morning Prayer: God’s Way Is the Best Way

My Morning Prayer: God’s Way Is the Best Way
-Roy Lessin and Marina Bromley

God’s Way Is the Best Way
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done (Luke 22:42 NKJV).

We cannot lean upon our own understanding; we must lean upon the arm of the Lord. When David was about to face Goliath, Saul told David to do it his way, using his armor; David refused and did it God’s way (dependent upon the Lord) and faced the enemy with a sling and a stone. God’s ways are not our ways. Our faith must respond to what God wants us to do and how He wants us to do it. One plus God is always a majority!

My Morning Prayer
-Marina Bromley

Good morning, God. I am grateful for Your peace and presence in my life, even when it appears to be tattered and storm-weary. You are with me in the midst of this day and I need Your arms to carry me through the battles and valleys. Father, I trust You. Your understanding is so much deeper and goes so much farther than today's circumstances. Lead me. Equip me. Comfort me. Also, through Your Holy Spirit, empower and strengthen me. Help my faith respond appropriately to what You want me to do, and how to do it, to accomplish Your will in this world today and for Your kingdom and glory. I choose to stand with You today, so Lord, have Your way in me and through me. In Jesus' name, amen.

Timely Tidbits of Truth 24

Timely Tidbits of Truth 24
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

The gift of God’s Son was freely given to us. He is a life-giving stream given without money or price. Because we have received freely from Him, there are so many gifts that we can give freely to others—a caring deed, prayer, a kind word, thanks, forgiveness.

Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price (Isaiah 55:1 NKJV).

Freely ye have received, freely give (Matthew 10:8).

The Lord Thinks Upon Me

The Lord Thinks Upon Me
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Based on Psalm 40:17 AMP:

I know your heart.
I know you. I understand.
I am familiar with all your ways.
I see. I hear.
I know your deepest desires.
I know your voice. I listen when you call.
I know where you are. I know your needs.
I know what you have walked through-
I know the valleys and the storms-
I have walked with you through each one.
I know your tears. Your joys. Your celebrations.
I know all you do in my name.
I notice. I care.
I am pleased when you trust me.
I love you! I know you love Me.

Even though I am afflicted and needy,
Still the Lord takes thought and is mindful of me.
You are my help and my rescuer.
O my God, do not delay (
Psalm 40:17 AMP).

The Lord is good, A strength and stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows [He recognizes, cares for, and understands fully] those who take refuge and trust in Him (Nahum 1:7 AMP).

Morning Prayer

Morning Prayer
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

Father, thank You for opening the door to another day. I step into it by faith and dependence upon You. I receive from You, a more than sufficient portion of Your Grace, to live today through You and for you.

Thank You for the newness today brings, and also for what is changeless. I praise You for the new page You are writing in my storybook of life. I praise You for new mercies, and for the new songs you put in my heart.

I praise You for Your steadfast love, Your faithful promises, and for Your constant, consistent, unfailing nature and character. Because of these things I can fully depend upon You.

I place my steps into Your hands. I trust You to order them. I give You my planner and pencil. Add to it what pleases You, and erase from it that which You have not ordered for this day.

Thank You for working all things together for good. I love You and I am blessed to be called according to Your purpose…And thank You there is nothing in this day that can separate me from Your love.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord bestows grace and favor and honor; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11 AMP).

Timely Tidbits of Truth 23

Timely Tidbits of Truth 23
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

The Lord has come to embrace you with the Father’s love and draw you close to His heart forever. No love could be richer, higher, or deeper than the love that the Lord has for you.

Long ago the Lord said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself" (Jeremiah 31:3 NLT).

May (you) be able to comprehend…what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge… (Ephesians 3:18-19).

The Victory of Love

The Victory of Love
-Roy Lessin, Meeting in the Meadow

To the saddened heart, He pours the oil of gladness;
To the discouraged heart, He brings a song of hope;
To the lonely heart, He comes with the nearness of His presence;
To the disappointed heart, He speaks a promise of better things;
To the drifting heart, He secures the anchor of His steadfast love;
To the wounded heart, He applies the healing ointment of His grace;
To the soiled heart, He washes with the rivers of His mercies;
To the troubled heart, He soothes with the quiet strength of His peace.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [curing pains and their sorrows] (Psalm 147:3 AMP).

My Morning Prayer: The Lord Knows Where to Place You

My Morning Prayer: The Lord Knows Where to Place You
-Roy Lessin and Marina Bromley

The Lord Knows Where to Place You
-Roy Lessin

Jesus…said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you.” Mark 5:19 NKJV

Sometimes we think we can serve God better and more effectively if we are somewhere else and with other people. We can think, I will serve You, Lord, when You send me to the mission field; I will let my life be a witness for You when I am with strangers, but not when I am with my family and friends here at home. God wants you to trust Him to work through you in the place He has you. He wants to work through you to touch the people who are around you now.

My Morning Prayer
-Marina Bromley

Good morning, God. Thank You for sustaining me through the night, and waking with me in the morning. I want all that You have for me today, and trust You will help me to hear Your voice through the day and that You will work through me right where I am today. Help me to discern Your voice, and help others to see You at work in me and through me. Let minds and hearts be open to receive the Good News of Jesus and give me a new boldness to share with them as You lead me. I love You and trust You! In Jesus' name, amen.
